| Workout Time! |
[Jan. 18th, 2008|07:45 pm] |
I joined a workout club this last week to continue my weight loss resolve. As some of you may or may not know, I've had laproscopic gastric bypass surgery. I'm coming up on my one year mark since surgery, and have lost almost 200 pounds. But it has gotten harder to lose weight, and I need a little added incentive to continue. My goal is to get down to at least 200 before the end of 2008. Tonight I went in and hopped on the treadmill. did 45 mins at 3.5mph. Then I did another 20 minutes on the recumbent bike. I feel pretty good, but I have to keep it up, so I'm going again tomorrow night ^^ After I left though, I was so hungry, almost ravenous LOL |

| *Computer Update* |
[Nov. 20th, 2007|06:15 pm] |
Well...
I ran a Rootkey virus scan overnight to see if anything would pop up. Sometime overnight, the computer rebooted itself again! So naturally, no results. Then I tried something new, I disconnected my internet network cable and ran it again while I was at work... Surprisingly, I came home and had a result... No viruses found.
So now I've decided to port everything I want saved to my 250G external hard drive (which is currently running as I'm typing this). So far so good. When that's done, I'm going to reformat and repartition my main internal hard drive and reinstall Windows XP. But before I do that, I'm going to remove everything I've since added to this computer in the last year or two... Printer, USB 2.0 card, external drive, and that damn infernal non-working soundcard. After XP is back on, I'm going to add each component back on one at a time and let Windows (hopefully) find them. I still have all my original install disks and documentation, so hopefully this will work.
If anything, I'm cleaning up my computer... There's got to be a ton of crap just sitting in there over the years from failed installs and incomplete program removals. I'll keep you posted... |

| Computer Woes... |
[Nov. 19th, 2007|08:31 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | cranky | ] | Well, my soundcard has decided to take a big shit... :P No sound at all. And when I rebooted my computer, I got caught in a boot loop briefly, it reset like 3 times before it finally started again. And that happened twice. Oh, and there was a couple of times there where I was working, and my computer, out of the blue, reboots. No rhyme or reason, I guess it just felt like it.
I tried un-installing and re-installing it with the newest drivers but no joy. I tried re-seating it into a different card slot... nothing. I tried doing a repair on my Windows XP... nothing. It acts like it won't install or can't find the drivers. This is the weirdest thing that has happened to me. It was working fine yesterday... And my virus scanner hasn't caught anything. There was some junk that Spybot Search and Destroy found, but nothing that usually pops up when I check for problems. Oh, and I had defragged last week... but I didn't think that had anything to do with it either.
I'm going to do a deep virus scan of my computer when I go to bed... Maybe there's something hidden that it can't find...? I'm open to suggestions... here's my specs, if it'll help.
DELL Dimension 8100 Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1700MHz 1.69GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM Running Windows XP Pro 2002 SP2 The soundcard is a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
If anyone has any ideas, let me know... |

| A Close Call... |
[Oct. 9th, 2007|08:02 pm] |
'Tis the season, I suppose...
On the way home from work last night, a deer almost darted out in front of me. Tried to, anyway...
Besides slamming on the brakes and nearly wetting my pants, I didn't hit her.... She hit me. Glanced off of the right front fender of my van. It's like she bounced off, much to my relief. She got the hint and ran back off into the field. When I got home, I looked over the van for damage... none, I lucked out. She did too, I guess...
Such is the perils of living on a prairie... |

| SwiftFur's Top Five List - Octo-brrr... |
[Oct. 5th, 2007|08:28 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | thoughtful | ] | Here in Washington, it has been very chilly these first few days of the month, but really, what's not to like about October? Here's my top 5 favorite things about this month...
5) Autumn. Or some call it fall... There's just something about seeing those leaves change into those bright reds, oranges and yellows...
4) Harvest Festivals. This year we went to Greenbluff, picked some apples, and had lots of fun! We bought ten pumpkins and lined the front porch with them. I'm wondering if I'm gonna make jack-o-lanterns out of all of them? (Jack-o-lanterns gets an honorable mention on my favorites list ^^)
3) Costumes and Trick or Treaters. They're pretty much one and the same, ya gotta have a costume to trick or treat :3 Unfortunately, they're scarce in my neighborhood, but I work at a mall and almost every year I dress up and pass out candy and get to see all the cool costumes people are wearing!
2) Halloween. ...has to be my most favorite holiday, even over Christmas. There's no stress, pressure, or procrastination about what to get for whom and no crowds at the stores. Plus the whole spookiness of it all, haunted houses, horror movies, cool decorations, the whole festive deal that goes with Halloween.
And the number one thing I like most about October...
1) My Birthday. Smack dab in the middle of the month. The only thing I don't like is getting older, but when you're my age, who does? :P |

| Second Life, New Decade Studios and other related junk... |
[Sep. 28th, 2007|01:51 pm] |
After almost 2 months of being on Second Life and not finding any quality people to chat with, I was about ready to call it quits. Seems that everybody on SL has their own group of friends they chat with, are not on at the same times as you, or want something from you, usually gestures or cool objects you've purchased or made yourself. These kinds of people add you to their friends list, but as soon as they get what they want, you never hear from them again. There's just so much shallow chat with people who don't hold the same interests as you and doing the same tired goofy gestures you can take before you're saying, "There's got to be more to it than this....?" Don't get me wrong. I've made a lot of nice friends on SL, some willing to hang out with me and put up with my quirky eccentricities, but only because they want to be there themselves, not that they find me or what I have to say anywhere remotely interesting. I also wanted to acquire some land I could build on without upgrading to a premium account or living in someone else's home, a place to call my own. After viewing several places with pre-built houses or apartments, and a few false leads to renting land on a friends sim (seems he was too busy building his own house to complete our transaction) imagine my surprise to find that a spot on the very island that I wanted to build on in the first place came to be available for rent. I set my "home" transport to a favorite beach on that sim, I couldn't believe my eyes when I TPed there and staring me in the face was a big "For Rent" sign. I was told that renting on that sim had a long waiting list of others wanting to get in. I guess I was in the right place at the right time. I'm putting my own art studio on the land, and a treehouse on the roof. There are two other art studios on the sim as well. Mine won't be nearly as cool and complex at theirs, but it's a start. I'm naming it "New Decade Studios" at SwiftFur's Nook based on an idea I had way back in middle school. So I've decided to stick around a little bit longer and see what happens after I get my studio up and running. I'd like to get on as a DJ at Club Rainbow Tiger or Club Bacchus. I have experience DJing before but not online (my major in school was radio and television broadcasting). And I'd like to meet someone interested in talking to me on a regular basis, not just in passing once in a blue moon. Oh yeah, artstuffs. I'm currently working on those requests I took in my last journal. I'm very surprised at the warm welcome the new pictures of Bobbi have gotten! Thank you, everyone <3 I'm also surprised that I didn't have to limit my work for the requests, they were actually pretty tame. I thought for sure I was going to have to reject some stuff for being too hardcore. I'm also re-writing my characters bios, they were terribly outdated. I've finished Roxy's bio and am currently working on Bobbi's. I want to do some reference sheets of each character also, before I post them. I have found a cache of unfinished pencilled work that I want to clean up, color and post. So you'll see a bunch of new/old/never-before-seen work from me soon. I also have a couple of "Crazy Like a Fox" comics completed, just need to slap the titles on them and post 'em :P I'm also 1/3 of the way into the fourth chapter of "Crimson Fur" for fans of my written work. If you like my work, please write and let me know. It inspires me to continue bettering myself and, therefore, make better stuff for you :3
Take care all, and I'll write again soon ^^ ~Swifty |

| An Update of Sorts... |
[Dec. 1st, 2006|01:04 pm] |
Hey everyone! Just a little note to say I'm still alive and well, although I haven't updated my journal in a while. The weather here has been playing havoc on my van, the serpentine belt came off on my way to work Tuesday morning. Upon further examination it turns out that the belt tensioner fell completely off. I guess that the bolt holding it on snapped completely. Thankfully my dad and brother Ryan has been a big help purchasing parts I need because my work hours make it difficult if not impossible to get them myself. My mother-in-law was gracious enough to loan me her car until we can get the van fixed. If that wasn't bad enough, it has been very cold and snowy the last few days. Nobody wants to fix a van in nearly sub-zero temps, so hopefully it will be warmer this weekend. For those who read my online comic, Crazy Like a Fox, I do have one new comic to post. I'll see about getting to that Monday. Unfortunately with the holidays fast approaching, I have no time to do new comics until after the new year. I also have a new Catillac Cats pic to post, the first in a series of 5 or so pics called "Junkyard Benefit Car Wash". I'm almost done inking it, then I'm going to color it with Photoshop. I also have a few side projects I'm working on, gift art and the like. Speaking of the Catillac Cats, I was able to score another animation cel of Cleo from eBay this past week! I've since received it, and it's awesome! I need to post my new cels on my RubberSlug account for all to see... You can also find my artwork on FurAffinity, deviantART, my homepage, or MySpace! |

| | Foreigner- Juke Box Hero | ] | It is bitter cold up here on the prairie! The wind has been blowing and has knocked all of our chairs on our front porch around. We have a swing that was banging hard against the railing and waking me up at night. I've since moved it away from the rail for the time being until this cold windy snap goes away. Well, the most interesting news is my boss's boss wanted me to rent a truck and drive to Federal Way to pick up some new machines. He reserved a truck and my mother in law took me over to Penske. I was lucky that my wife was able to come with me. When we got there she saw a little yellow truck in their back lot and thought it was going to be easy. Imagine our surprise when the Penske guy pulled our truck around and it was huge! It was 24 foot and had a lift gate in the back. I'd never driven anything so big, it was a real adventure. We left Wednesday morning and drove 5 hours. Thankfully Snoqualmie Pass was dry and clear, though the snow was very deep along the sides of the road at the top. When we reached our hotel, a Ramada Inn in Kent, we paid and headed up to our room. Along the way, we passed the pool and hot tub, which was closed due to a gas leak. Our whole reason for booking that hotel was to swim when we got there, so they refunded our money and we drove in to Federal Way. The first hotel we found was a LaQuinta and it was awesome! For the same price as the Ramada, we got a king suite with 2 rooms! We relaxed for a bit, I hooked up my portable DVD player, watched some of season 6 of Frasier, and ordered out for pizza. After that we went down and swam, we had the pool and hot tub to ourselves. We came back to the room and ordered room service and watched more Frasier. Leslie konked out, so we went to bed, and slept well. The next day I met my boss in Federal Way, I helped him unload another truck filled with machines into his store, then loaded up our truck and headed out around 2pm. After a few pit stops, we pulled into Spokane around 7:30pm. I discovered when I opened the truck that one of the machines glass broke, and there was glass all over the truck. I unloaded the truck and filled the tanks ($222 WOW!) and then drove to a hardware store to get a broom to sweep out the glass. It was closed, but Leslie's mom brought me a broom to sweep out the truck. By that time it was 10pm Thursday night and the wind cut through us like knives or... glass! Leslie was such a sweetheart, the held a basket to catch the glass as I swept it out the door. I love her so much, she puts up with a lot of my unexpected crap when it just shouldn't happen at all. We finally got home around 10:45pm and was so cold. I am wheezing bad, I feel like I'm catching a chest cold. So I've started taking Musenex and Airborne, and an inhaler. Hopefully I can nip this in the bud before it gets any worse. The sad thing is, I work tonight. Friday nights are bad for me. Oh well. |

| | A Charlie Brown Christmas - The Vince Guaraldi Trio | ] | Today we went to get our Christmas tree. It was really interesting counting the number of cars and SUV's with trees on their roofs. Greenbluff was really hopping with people looking for the perfect tree. The first place we tried was Dietz U-cut Christmas Trees. It was picked over pretty good, with just a few stragglers, and nobody was willing to help us. We had our hearts set on a Grand Fir, but they didn't have any rhyme or reason to their planting. Then the cashier in the little white house told us that there were more trees on the mountainside. We checked it out, but passed cause they didn't have any rides to the trees. We didn't want to hike all over the mountain. Then we went to Huckaba's Green Bluff. They were nicer by comparison, and much more willing to help us out with our trees. But they also was picked over heavily. Hard to believe when it's only the weekend after Thanksgiving. After an hour of walking and searching through irregular trees, we spotted one that we liked. It was a short, fat little Concolor Fir with long blue needles and I sawed it down. We carried it over to the road and they picked it up with a tractor with a trailer, took it back to the barn and shook it and wrapped it. As we walked back to the barn, we came across a Grand Fir that was perfect! And it was only 100 feet from my van! But we kept the Concolor, and given it's short fat stature, I followed my tradition of naming my Christmas trees and I named it Fluffy. We took it home and put it up, tomorrow we'll decorate it! Maybe soon I'll post up some pics of Fluffy after we decorate it :) |

| | grateful | ] | I've been using a really awesome weapon for weight loss called the HealthFitCounter. It stores all of your calories and recalls them at a moment's notice. Just recently I have had a problem with my counter, and it kept resetting. There was something loose inside and it stopped working. My wife called them and even though we were a month over warranty they helped me out (I'm sending them my broken counter in exchange, of course). There isn't a product on the market that does what this handy little device does. It's like a little weight loss palm pilot. It has over 2300 food items already pre-programmed in, fully editable of course, and plenty of room for custom foods and recipes. Whatever you can't find on it, you can find on-line, or on the product's nutrition label. It has a handy touch screen and a wand, and it is SO easy to use! Using it I have lost 25lbs so far. I challenge anyone to show me a better product than this. |

| How Exciting... |
[Sep. 2nd, 2005|01:23 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | headachy | ] | Yup, Friday's upon us yet again, and still no update for CLAF. It has been a long hot summer, and I think that now that school's starting again, I just may do a few new comics. Lord knows it's about time, right? Well, anyways, I did sketch out a pin-up of Coco, and it needs some serious work. Maybe I'm rusty. I do know that living on the prairie definitely has made my allergies BAD. As I type even now, I have a raging headache. Not sure if anyone realizes yet or not, but I can be reached many ways. Has anyone else heard of Skype? It's a cool program that allows users to voice chat real time like a telephone. I downloaded it, but none of the people I know use it yet, so there's nobody to call. The concept of the program fascinates me anyway. LOL I used to be quite the chatter. A while back there was a website called The Park, and I would be there, like all the time, in the room they called The Den. It was really cool, I met so many interesting people on there, one even locally! But then they opened way too many rooms, and then ICQ was released so chatters dwindled down to nothing. It didn't help that there were a lot of imps running about causing all sorts of trouble. But anyways... I thought I'd tell you a bit about my past... There's much more to tell, but I have to vacuum the bedroom and get ready for work. |
